About Us
Welcome to the digital home of The Christian Science Association of Pupils of Colleen Douglass, CSB. We’re happy you’re here. Our Association is a group of individuals who have participated in a 12-day course with Colleen, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher. Once Colleen taught her second class, we formed an Association that is dedicated to furthering an understanding of Christian Science and its healing legacy. We’ve been meeting yearly, along with invited guests, in Los Angeles, CA, since 1999.
If you’re interested in learning more about taking Colleen's class or joining us as a guest at our annual Association meeting, please contact Colleen directly at 310-428-6140 or colleen@douglasscsb.org
Oh, on another note, you may be wondering why flamingos, especially since they’re not native to California. It started out as a touch of humor during one of our Association meetings — a plastic flamingo was tucked into view behind the podium — and soon the pink bird became our mascot. Every year since, the secretary-treasurer has dressed up the flamingo that we call Bob (short for "Bird-Of-Birds") in some amusing outfit. It’s always fun to see what she’ll come up with next!
About Colleen Douglass, C.S.B.
Colleen Douglass loves to stretch the boundaries of long held notions about human life and its limitations. She finds that the more she understands the one infinite and benevolent God, the more she grows to expect ever-operative good. Colleen’s love for humankind prompted her to commit to spiritual healing, so she entered the public practice of Christian Science. After nine years of practice, she gained further training to become a Christian Science teacher. She now has the opportunity to teach others about Christian Science and its healing efficacy. Colleen’s class is held in Eugene, Oregon and her yearly Association meeting is in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
Before dedicating full-time to this practice, Colleen tested her faith in God as a student, an active business woman, an educator, and a stepmother to adolescent children. Her career included serving as one of the early women hired in a non-clerical position by the U.S. Forest Service, leading a summer education program on the Navajo reservation, and designing and implementing marketing communications plans for such clients as the Australian, New Zealand, and California tourist offices, Society Expeditions’ Orient Express, and Ritz-Carlton Hotels.
For all the variety in Colleen’s career, however, one thing remains constant—her reliance on God. As a result, her lifelong study and application of Christian Science repeatedly proves the universal applicability and consistent reliability of God's law.
Colleen has served as a contributing editor and a field coach for her church’s magazines. She has also appeared on Sentinel Radio, Sentinel Watch, and spirituality.com chats, plus was a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, the First Reader in her branch church, a chaplain in a probationary camp for boys, and a Sunday School superintendent and teacher.
She resides in Eugene, Oregon with her husband, Barry.
